Dansko’s in the Test Kitchen

You may think that the Living test kitchen’s favorite cooking tool is a stand mixer, a wooden spoon, or a silpat. But really, it’s our Dansko shoes. We particularly love the XP Pros; we are able to stand comfortably for hours on end due to their cushy yet unparalleled stability.

Each of us has our own unique pair and it’s fun to think they define our different styles in the kitchen…

Lucinda Scala Quinn, our Executive Editorial Director and author of the Mad Hungry books, sports her Pros in edgy Charcoal Anaconda, while Jen Aaronson, Editorial Director and baker extraordinaire, prefers to see her toes tipped with flashy Silver.

Food Editor Shira Bocar keeps it tasty with Blueberry, while Greg Lofts, Living‘s Sr. Associate Food Editor, keeps himself energized in the kitchen with Espresso. Laura Rege, our Recipe Taster, kept it low key and practical with Ebony.

Me, well, I’m embarrassed to say this is my first pair! So I decided to keep it safe with my favorite color combination: Antique Brown and Black. (Next time I’m going for Ruby Anaconda.)

  • I have been wearing Dansko’s for decades and they are by far the best thing I can possibly put on my feet. I love that Charcoal Anaconda, that just might have to be my next pair!

  • I LOVE my dansko shoes. I bought a pair to wear while working , and they help my foot-leg-knee pain soooo much. I am going to save up to get another pair, hopefully by summer.
