Instagram Round-Up: After Hurricane Sandy

Hurricane Sandy has had a devastating effect on much of the East Coast. Right before the storm hit, we put out a call to our fans to submit their “stuck inside” activities on Instagram (@MS_Living). As the editors of Martha Stewart Living have struggled to maintain business as usual (despite being evacuated from our office in Manhattan due to flooding and power loss), we’ve been truly inspired by the positive attitudes, resourcefulness, and generosity of our fans.

@partycouture made this asparagus tart using a recipe from our site.

Editors Pilar, Eric, Linda, Cybele, Jen, Yolanda, and Ayesha met at Pilar’s home yesterday for a meeting because our office still doesn’t have power.

As the aftermath of the storm continues to affect millions, we would love for you to keep sharing your stories on Instagram. From sharing meals to finding ways to live creatively despite the storm, please tag us in your photos and use the hashtag #aftersandy — we’ll re-post as many images as we can on our account and here on the Living blog.

Comfort foods, like @celiphoto’s warm cinnamon rolls, were popular posts during the storm.

After the storm, our Editor-in-Chief Pilar Guzman cooked meals for friends who had been evacuated: poached eggs in tomato sauce, pasta, and BLTs.

Thank you to everyone who has submitted so far. We hope you all continue to stay safe!
