Fitness: GoRecess.com

By

WHAT IT IS: A brand-new website (still in beta!) that offers one-stop browsing and booking for more than 100,000 group fitness classes nationwide.

I found 37 yoga classes within a one-mile radius of my zip code. One studio is just a few blocks away—no more excuses for missing a workout!

CATEGORIES: Yoga, cardio, Pilates, barre, strength training, martial arts, boot camp, pre-/postnatal and dance — although dig a little and you can get hyper-niche (think acroyoga, belly dancing, kangoo, stand-up paddleboarding, and so forth …)

FILTERS: Search by location, time, and/or facility name. Deciding between two equals? Check out what past class-takers had to say in their reviews.

BIGGEST BONUS IMHO: Thanks to technology and the fact that everything is under one URL, it’s easy to share my class info with friends. A workout buddy is the best motivator when my couch is looking more appealing than my yoga mat.

PRICE: In a word, free — although each individual facility’s cancellation fees apply if you skip without sufficient notice. And the loss of $$$ is, for me at least, a strong incentive not to flake.

COMING SOON: Founders Megan Smyth and Billy Arzt tell us to be on the lookout for new facilities (and thereby, more classes). Plus, a mobile app is in the works, which is a good news-bad news scenario: While it’s undeniably awesome to think I could walk around with that many class schedules in my purse, might all the exercise-y vibes make my bag of Swedish Fish feel lazy?
